Course Overview
Introduction
This financial management training was developed to provide information about finance to non‐accountants in a simple form. It was designed to help businesses move from informal to formal financial record keeping, business management and business continuity planning, which we expect will translate to businesses being better able to access financing, grow and develop.
Learning Outcomes
The intended learning outcomes are:
- Demonstrate understanding of key finance concepts in businesses.
- Determine improvement in financial performance by application of key finance concepts.
- Create a financial and business continuity plan to reflect, restart and revitalize the business and to adapt business performance to new market conditions.
- Demonstrate understanding and adherence to the statutory and regulatory obligation for businesses.

Instructors
Elijah J Leblanc is a Financial Accountant and MSME Business Advisor with more than 20 years of successful experience in management accounting. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Accounting (Honors) from DeVry University. As Financial Accountant and MSME Business Advisor, he is responsible for improving workflow and internal controls efficiency and accuracy, preparation and interpretation of financial statements, budgeting, asset management and procurement, providing technical assistance, managerial and accounting support to targeted MSME businesses. Developing robust business plans, optimizing operational plans, developing strategies for scaling up of existing businesses in key economic sectors in Dominica with a focus on developing sustainable businesses aligned to economic growth targets. Creating a database for MSME businesses, designing, and implementing business continuity plans for MSMEs and improving the financial management and accounting standards of MSMEs.
